Saxbury has learned that residential developer Regal London is set to embark on their first hospitality project in Whitechapel.
The project at 73-77 Commercial Road has received planning approval for conversion to apart-hotel.
When complete, Stay City will occupy 68,795 sq ft over 14 storeys, offering 156 studio and one bedroom apartments, interiors are to be designed by apart-hotel favorites Dexter Moren Associates.
Wilde apartments feature a kitchenette and all the latest tech including a 43-inch flat screen smart TV and touch control panels for lighting and air conditioning.
A long-term lease of the property has been agreed between Regal London and Staycity .
This will be Stay City’s second Wilde apart-hotel in London, their first opened in 2018 on The Strand. Regal is expected to break ground in summer 2019 and the hotel is slated to open in 2021.
Staycity currently operates three properties in London, with a 248-bedroom property set to open in London’s Paddington, as part of a £203m complex opening in 2021.
Whitechapel has long been perceived as an unloved part of the capital, but it is now undergoing a social transformation and looks likely to undergo some of the dramatic gentrification seen in nearby Shoreditch and Hoxton.
